10 Evidences That Strengthen the Case for the Bible #2
Evidence #2 — The Design and Fine-Tuning of the Universe Points to a Designer

When we see something complex and purposeful, our instinct is to assume there is intelligence behind it. If someone finds a watch in the woods, they do not assume that wind, dirt, and time assembled it. They recognize that a watch implies a watchmaker.
The same principle applies when we look at the universe.
The universe operates according to precise physical laws that allow matter, energy, gravity, and chemistry to function in an incredibly ordered way. Scientists have discovered that many of these constants are so finely balanced that even a slight change would make life impossible.
For example, if gravity were slightly stronger, stars would burn out too quickly for life to develop. If it were slightly weaker, galaxies and solar systems might never form. The same delicate balance exists with many other physical constants that govern the universe.
The conditions required for life are also remarkably precise. The Earth sits in what scientists often call the “habitable zone,” the narrow region around a star where temperatures allow liquid water to exist. Our planet also has a protective atmosphere, a magnetic field that shields us from harmful radiation, and a stable orbit that allows life to flourish.
These conditions are not random conveniences. They form a system of remarkable balance that makes life possible.
When people encounter systems that are highly ordered and precisely arranged, the most reasonable explanation is design. The more complex and finely tuned the system becomes, the stronger the case for a designer.
This is why many thinkers have pointed out that the universe looks less like an accident and more like something that was carefully arranged.
The Bible opens with a simple but profound statement: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” From that starting point, Scripture consistently presents the natural world as evidence of a Creator whose power and wisdom are visible through creation itself.
When people look honestly at the order, structure, and fine-tuning of the universe, it naturally raises a deeper question. If the universe shows signs of design, then who is the designer?
Tomorrow we will examine the third evidence: the remarkable preservation of the biblical text over time.
