Aren’t these emoticons fun? With a quick simple click you can share your reaction. When Facebook added this emoticon did they intend it for your reaction to something comedic or funny? I would hope that was the intent but as I scroll through Facebook I see it as a tool for mockery, degradation, and judgement of others. Why have so many of us become so cold and cruel to one another? I see people post an item for sale and someone comes along to complain about the price, interject their negative opinion and completely mock the seller. What makes that person so angry and insulting? Why is it so important to tear another down? Even on some Facebook pages describing scripture…pages full of self proclaimed Christians that choose to argue, mock and terrorize one another over a difference in belief. Why? There is such an uptight, angry atmosphere among us these days. A lifestyle of divisiveness and lack of understanding. God does not ask of us anything that we cannot handle or accomplish. And this request from Ephesians is truly not difficult. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you.” Even if you choose to disavow God those words should still resonate as moral and just…simply right. We all need to do better. Side note: I pray you do not disavow God and recognize His presence in your life. There is truly more to life than what the world offers.
