Are Christians pushy?

I have shared a lot of scripture these last 2 to 3 weeks. I have done so knowing that some on my page simply do not believe and may even hate what I post or think I am crazy. Does this mean I have some agenda to “cram” my “belief” down their throats? Of course not. I am truly putting in the time to research what I am sharing. I have never been one to take anyone at their word or anything at face value. I am no expert in theology, certainly not a preacher or pastor. I am just a regular guy facing trials and tribulations like everyone else and it weighs heavily on me to share.

The thing is that as I began this journey just a few weeks ago some real common sense questions have been posed.

First, the question of do I believe that everything came from nothing. Any person can rationalize that this is an improbability. Everything had to come from something. There is nothing in your home that you could show me that just appeared out of thin air. Someone created it. It is stated in Romans 1:20 “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature.”

Another question or statement I hear all of the time is that once we die we are just gone. There is no proof of life after death. John 3:16 states “For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life.” Everlasting life…immortality. Sounds science fiction doesn’t it? Our basic intellect tends to take many things at face value. And you have to admit Hollywood movies have definitely created illusions of what is fact vs fiction. Remember, movies are made for the purpose of entertaining for profit. Producers, movie investors, and actors are generally not concerned about reality. They are concerned with what will appeal to your desire to spend your money on them. Do not rely on entertainment to guide your intellect. Rely on real evidence. It starts with the Bible. And if you truly put in the time you will find so much supporting data proving that the Bible is indeed a textbook! Many intelligent and educated people have set out to disprove the teachings of the Bible and you would be shocked to learn how many have only solidified and validated the truths in the Bible.

So back to my original question. Are Christians pushy? Ray Comfort of Living Waters poses a basic question to those he ministers to. If you were in a plane with someone else and the plane was going to crash and you both had to jump and the other person’s parachute was loose would you warn him? Of course you would. Any person with a conscience (which we all have) would warn the other person even if there were animosity between you. This is why sometimes a Christian seems “pushy.” They have nothing to gain for themselves to warn you of a danger. And that danger is hell. And they are truly concerned for you.

Remember this statement “your body does not have a soul, your soul has a body.” We all know that the body breaks down and eventually dies. But the fact that there is more to us than skin, bones, blood, and organs is not so hard to fathom. Think of your mind, your voice, your thoughts, your emotions, your sight, you DNA, and your breath. You are designed with intricate order. Your body was created for your soul. You are within that body!

When Jesus was sent to the world to die on the cross for our sins He promised that He would go and prepare a place for us. John 14:2 says “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” Matthew 25:26 explains “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” When someone seems adamant about sharing their provable and undeniable understanding that our souls are at risk of eternal punishment they fear for you. Again, they have NOTHING to gain from sharing, but you do! They do not want to see you jump out of that plane with a faulty parachute. They share out of love for others…for their fellow man, woman and child. John 13:34 states “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

To understand Christians and Christianity can be summed up very simple…understand that God created the world, God did not create us as slaves but as a creature of free will, He did not delight in our will to sin but He still loved His creation, He sent Jesus to be our example and to die on the cross as payment for our sins only requiring that you believe in Him, repent of your sins and to follow Jesus’ example as you live your life so that you will have eternal life, and be an example for others so that they may seek eternal life. It does not mean you have to be a preacher, it does not even mean you have to attend church (this is just a wonderful resource to learn and grow). You will never be sin free but you will desire the effort to be so and live as such. You dont even have to post scripture on Facebook like me. I do this to assist me in learning and because I feel a burden on my heart and a fear for others. It means that whatever you do in life for a job, for play, for whatever, simply accept, repent and love others as He loves you. You do this and you too will be influenced with a heavy heart to warn others in your own way but with God’s guidance. I pray for your salvation, for your understanding and for you to live life with peace in knowing our time here is only a short part of our journey.
