WOULD YOU WATCH YOUR DAUGHTER NAKED ON A MOVIE SCREEN? Have your attention? Did that sound offensive? Good…
I just watched a movie called Power of the Air. It is entertaining but wow is it thought provoking! Please read this. In the movie a pastor makes some huge points. He states that the media is the Most Powerful Church in America. Take this for example: If you attended church Sunday morning and you were listening to the pastors sermon and then he cursed Jesus what would you think? He continues with his sermon and again uses God’s name as a swear word. He continues more and then half way through the sermon a couple come onto the stage and begin to undress and have sex. You would be appalled. You would likely shout out or get up and walk out in disgust. Yet 12 hours earlier you sit in a movie theatre and pay to watch the same exact thing and look at it as entertainment. He goes on to ask would you go to church to hear your name used as a swear word? Of course not so why would you watch a movie that used God’s name in vain. Would you go to a movie to watch your daughter naked on a big screen? No? Then why would you pay to watch someone else’s daughter naked on a big screen? The influence from media is most certainly effective. We have become desensitized to immorality which I can see as a weakening force for our behaviors not only in what entertains us but how we act toward others. The last thing the guy notes is if all of those acts are entertainment in a movie theatre then it is entertainment in a church or if it is most sinful in a movie theatre then it is most sinful in a church. I truly never looked at things this way but it is revelational in my thought process. I knew that many of the things I seek for entertainment were not always morally good but I seen myself as a moral person anyway. It’s just a movie right? Or is it? Just some food for thought. So many of us are guilty of this influence whether Christian or not. I’m not going to tell you how to be entertained. I am not interested in censoring you or judging your decisions. But my eyes are opening, my mind has been provoked and I just feel a burning desire to share the experience. I hope everyone starts paying attention to the things that are hurting our society. The hate and divisiveness begins with what we allow as acceptable in our our lives.
Don’t ever be ashamed to speak up for Jesus Christ. He wasnt ashamed to die on the cross for you and I.
Check out the movie. It is on Youtube in it’s entirety. It is actually a very inspiring movie.
