Is God’s Truth Just Science Fiction?

Ever wonder why some of the core truths of Christianity—God being with us, the power of prayer, the existence of heaven and hell, and the fact that our soul lives beyond this life—feel like the stuff of science fiction? You’re not alone. In today’s world, where our minds are saturated with entertainment, it’s easy to see how these spiritual realities can seem far-fetched. Hollywood, after all, is the master of creating unbelievable worlds. So, has the “Hollywood mentality” made us skeptical of the truth?

Movies and shows are filled with superheroes, parallel dimensions, epic battles of good vs. evil, and alternate realities. They entertain us with dazzling storylines that spark the imagination but also blur the line between reality and fantasy. The problem isn’t that these stories exist—it’s that they can condition us to view real spiritual truths as just another fictional narrative. When you’ve spent years consuming a steady diet of sci-fi and superhero movies, concepts like heaven, prayer, and eternal souls can begin to feel like they belong in the same category.

But here’s the thing—just because a truth sounds unbelievable doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

God’s Truth vs. Hollywood Fantasy

The Bible tells us that God’s ways are not like ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Spiritual truths are often beyond what our minds can fully grasp, but that’s exactly what makes them divine. Heaven isn’t just a comforting fairy tale; it’s the place Jesus said He went to prepare for us (John 14:2-3). Hell isn’t a spooky legend—it’s a place of eternal separation from God (Matthew 25:46). And your soul? That’s the core of who you are. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God “has set eternity in the hearts of men.” The reason you feel restless or long for something more? That’s your soul recognizing that this life isn’t all there is.

What Hollywood does is imitate bits and pieces of these deeper truths but distorts them into entertainment. The supernatural battles, the idea of life beyond death, and heroic figures saving the world—they all echo a greater reality. However, Hollywood twists these themes to the point that the original truth behind them becomes unrecognizable. As a result, many people start seeing prayer, miracles, or the existence of the soul as nothing more than fantasy.

But here’s the difference: God’s truth isn’t fiction. It’s reality, whether we comprehend it now or not.

Prayer and God’s Presence Are Real

Take prayer, for example. Hollywood might make it seem like a magical spell, but prayer isn’t about magic—it’s real communication with the living God. It’s not wishful thinking; it’s a lifeline to the One who created us. God is with us, moving in ways we can’t always see. Heaven and hell aren’t metaphorical places—they’re real destinations. And our soul? It’s not just a spark of life but the eternal part of us that outlives our physical bodies.

The enemy loves to keep people confused. If Satan can convince us that heaven and hell are just stories, or that prayer is no more powerful than talking to yourself, then he’s succeeded in blinding us to what’s at stake—our eternity. And make no mistake—there is an eternity. The Bible makes it clear that we will all stand before God one day (2 Corinthians 5:10). Whether we believe it or not, our soul is heading somewhere. The question is, are we paying attention, or have we allowed Hollywood to make us numb to the truth?

God’s Patience Is Running Out

We see this confusion play out in how people respond to talk about the end times. Some brush it off as a religious scare tactic, while others view it as a fantasy on par with doomsday movies. But the Bible isn’t playing. Jesus told us to watch for the signs—wars, earthquakes, and increased wickedness (Matthew 24:6-8). And guess what? Those signs are everywhere.

Yet, God hasn’t closed the curtain just yet. Why? Because He’s giving us time to repent (2 Peter 3:9). Every day that the end doesn’t come is another opportunity to turn to Him. But that door of grace won’t stay open forever. When Jesus returns, the time for second chances will be over.

Choose the Truth Before It’s Too Late

At the end of the day, the question isn’t whether these things are real—the question is whether you’re ready. Hollywood’s stories will fade, but God’s truth will remain. Heaven is real. Hell is real. Your soul is real. And you have a choice to make. You can dismiss it all as fiction—or you can accept the truth and prepare yourself for what’s to come.

Here’s the good news: if you belong to Christ, there’s nothing to fear. The end times aren’t the end—they’re the beginning of eternity with Him. But if you haven’t made things right with God, today is the day. Don’t let another day pass. The Bible says, “Now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

This isn’t just another story—it’s the truth. And it’s time to get serious. Eternity is real, and the clock is ticking. What will you do with the time you have left?
