For years, as an entrepreneur, I have read many books that offered guidance and instruction. The books were written by others whom had walked the line from starting out to succeeding. And sometimes I would implement what I learned but that line that needs walked is not always the same for each of us. Over the last few months I have turned to scripture, never realizing how applicable it was to my life. I did not realize that God had much concern for the simple life of a single individual. I did not realize the instructions that He clearly communicated to man so that we could understand our purpose and God’s intent.
Had only I known that this age old book was much more than just a book. Perhaps I would have realized I was relying on man’s instructions rather than God’s. Perhaps I would have realized just how close God is to us as we conduct our day to day activities.
As I am indulging in His word and putting into play His instructions I am sensing His grace as I make decisions for my present and future. And as things are beginning to come together I fear my own questionable thoughts as I recognize my inabilities when pursuing goals on my own reliance. James wrote in Chapter 1 verses 22-25 “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey it, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” The point being that reading the bible is not enough. Do not decieve yourself to think that you have everything under control and you are alone in your journeys. We must put it into play in our day to day decisions. And I sit here today as evidence that His grace is present as I try to recondition my mind to rely on His guidance in my decisions. We would not be starting a second location without Him. And He is opening more doors that look as though we may have additional exposure and opportunity in a third location. And this all began because I prayed for an opportunity to not have to keep struggling through the slow winters. I do not believe in coincidences, but I assure you I not only believe in our creator, I know He is present in my life now that I have opened my mind and heart to Him and turned my attention to His word.
Heavenly Father thank you for a successful day yesterday as we officially began our journey with our second business location. Thank you for your presence and obliging grace in providing opportunities based on my prayers for a solution to our struggles. And thank you for bringing people into my life that are like minded in this endeavor. May you continue to bless them with deserving success. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
