The Collapse of Culture and the Need for Christ

If you haven’t noticed, the world is unraveling faster than ever before. What used to be considered common sense and decency has now become a battlefield of confusion, manipulation, and outright rebellion against the very fabric of morality. We are witnessing societal collapse, fueled by a desire to redefine everything God has ordained. This chaos isn’t just contained to our personal lives or communities—it’s engulfed our politics, our media, and our global systems.

Look around. Gender, once an undeniable biological fact, is now viewed as a social construct. Romans 1:22-25 is as true today as it was in Paul’s time: “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man… who exchanged the truth of God for the lie.” We’ve exchanged the truth of God’s creation for lies, convenience, and so-called progress. Gender is no longer grounded in biology; instead, it is subject to personal feelings, emotions, and whims. Our culture would rather offend God than offend human sensibilities.

But the insanity doesn’t stop with the erasure of basic truths about human biology. We’ve been sold a lie that says, “Do what makes you feel good,” and if it feels right, it must be right. The culture tells us that morality is subjective and can be whatever we want it to be, but Isaiah 5:20 warned us about these times: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Our culture celebrates what God calls sin and vilifies what He calls righteousness.

Pride is no longer something to be cautious of—it’s celebrated. And not just any pride, but pride that elevates rebellion against God’s Word, particularly in areas of sexuality and identity. Yet, James 4:6 reminds us: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Instead of humility before God, we see an arrogant and blatant rejection of His design. Our sexual immorality is paraded as liberation, but it’s bondage. The same society that claims to fight for “justice” turns a blind eye to injustice committed daily, from the slaughter of unborn children to the manipulation of truth in our media and politics.

Let’s talk about the political landscape for a moment. It’s as though people have chosen sides not based on principles or righteousness, but on power and division. The left and right seem more interested in tearing each other apart than seeking truth. Instead of seeing politics as a way to govern wisely, it’s become a tool for division and hatred. Jesus warned us about division in Matthew 12:25: “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” Our nation is on the brink of collapse, not because of external enemies, but because we’ve allowed ourselves to be divided from within. We no longer care about truth, only about being right in the eyes of our political tribe.

And what fuels this division? A media that no longer serves the role of a watchdog for truth but instead acts as a manipulator and mouthpiece for political agendas. The press, once hailed as free and fair, is now used to spread lies, twist narratives, and promote fear. Instead of reporting the truth, they sensationalize, divide, and distort facts to push an agenda. Proverbs 12:22 tells us: “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” But where are the trustworthy voices in the media today? They’re drowned out by a cacophony of lies, fear-mongering, and manipulation.

Our media tells us what to think, not how to think. They shape narratives that pit us against each other based on race, politics, gender, and more. Facts are no longer reported, only opinions disguised as facts, which change depending on what serves the greater agenda. And the worst part is that we’ve become so desensitized that many of us don’t even recognize the manipulation. It’s no wonder people are confused, angry, and searching for answers. Jeremiah 9:5 speaks directly to our time: “Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning.”

We live in a time where truth is relative, morality is optional, and power is everything. Our political and media landscapes reflect this reality every single day. People are led to believe that the solution lies in a politician, a party, or a movement, but the truth is that no human system or leader can fix what’s wrong with this world. Psalm 146:3 tells us plainly: “Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.” Yet, we continue to place our hope in political leaders, expecting them to solve moral and spiritual problems. No politician can save us. No party can restore righteousness. The world’s problems are spiritual, and only Christ can bring the healing we so desperately need.

And then there’s the issue of justice, twisted and perverted. We hear cries for justice, but what kind of justice? The kind that ignores the sanctity of life in the womb? The kind that encourages violence in the streets under the banner of peace? God’s justice is not like man’s justice. His justice is perfect, and it begins with truth. But we’ve abandoned truth in favor of political expediency. We scream for justice while turning a blind eye to the greatest injustice of all: the murder of millions of unborn children. Psalm 139:13-16 reminds us that God knew us before we were even born, knitting us together in the womb. Every child is precious in His sight, yet we treat them as disposable.

This culture of death extends beyond abortion. It reaches into euthanasia, a growing desensitization to violence, and an overall disregard for human life. We’ve become hardened to suffering, indifferent to the pain of others, and consumed with our own desires. Ezekiel 36:26 offers hope: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” But instead of seeking God’s heart, we continue to embrace a heart of stone, unfeeling and uncaring.

Our entertainment glorifies the very things God detests. What once was considered perverse or immoral is now mainstream. We indulge in shows, movies, and music that glorify greed, sexual perversion, violence, and hatred. Romans 12:2 commands us: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Yet, how many of us have let our minds be conformed to the filth of this world? We’ve allowed entertainment to erode our sense of right and wrong, numbing us to sin and making us comfortable with the very things that lead to destruction.

And sadly, even the church is not immune. Many churches have caved to the pressure of culture, softening their stance on sin, watering down the gospel, and focusing on feel-good messages rather than the truth of repentance and salvation. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns us: “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” We are in that time. Many churches no longer preach the whole counsel of God’s Word, instead opting for sermons that won’t offend but won’t save either.

But here’s the truth, the unchangeable, eternal truth: Jesus Christ is still on the throne. He has not abandoned us, nor has He lost control. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35). No matter how dark the world becomes, His light will always shine brighter. He will always be victorious.

So what’s the solution? It’s simple but not easy: return to Christ. Turn back to the One who created you, who loved you enough to die for you. Repent of the wickedness that has taken root in your heart, in your home, and in this world. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He’s not one way among many—He is the only way. Until we, as individuals, as families, and as a society, acknowledge that, we will continue to spiral further into chaos.

It’s not too late. As long as there is breath in your lungs, there is hope. Romans 10:9-10 gives us the simple yet profound answer: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

This world doesn’t need more opinions, more debates, or more compromise. It needs Jesus. He is the answer. He is the hope. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and He is coming back.

What will you choose? Will you continue down the path of destruction, following a culture that leads nowhere but death, or will you turn to the One who offers life, freedom, and eternal hope? The choice is yours, but the consequences are eternal.

The world may be falling apart, but Christ holds it together. He always has, and He always will.
