You Don’t Know Everything, So Don’t You Owe It to Yourself to Find Out the Truth?

Let’s get right to the point: nobody knows everything. I don’t, you don’t, and none of the “experts” out there do either. So, if we can admit that, we also have to admit that there’s a possibility we could be wrong about some things. Now, here’s the deal: if you’ve ever doubted God or the truth of the Bible, isn’t there at least a chance that you might be wrong? And if there’s even the slightest possibility that what you’ve heard about God could be true, don’t you owe it to yourself and to the people you love to know for sure?

I’m not here to sugarcoat anything. Let’s talk about some common sense. Look around you. There’s order in the universe, patterns in nature, laws of physics that keep everything in check. The Bible says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Did you catch that? God’s qualities are clearly seen. The evidence of His existence is all around us. You can look at the stars, the changing of the seasons, the way our bodies work, and see that this didn’t just happen by random chance. It’s got the fingerprints of a Creator all over it!

Now, let’s dive into some facts. The Bible isn’t just some random book written by a bunch of guys who got together and made up stories. It’s a collection of 66 books written over 1,500 years by 40 different authors—most of whom never even met each other. Yet, somehow, their writings are perfectly aligned, telling a cohesive story about God’s relationship with humanity. You think that’s an accident? No way. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” This book isn’t just another piece of literature; it’s the inspired Word of God.

If you’re still doubting, consider the evidence that surrounds us. How about the historical accuracy of the Bible? People like to think it’s just a bunch of made-up tales, but archaeological discoveries continue to back up what’s written in the Scriptures. They’ve found ancient cities, artifacts, and inscriptions that confirm the events, people, and places mentioned in the Bible. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the 1940s gave us manuscripts of the Old Testament that date back nearly a thousand years before the previous oldest known copies—and guess what? They align almost perfectly with what we have today. The accuracy and preservation of the Bible over millennia is unmatched by any other historical document. You think that’s by accident? Not a chance!

Let’s also talk about prophecy. The Bible contains hundreds of prophecies, many of which have already come true. Isaiah 53, written about 700 years before Jesus, describes in detail the suffering and crucifixion of the Messiah. And that’s just one example! The odds of all these prophecies happening by random chance are astronomical. So, if the Bible gets these details right, doesn’t it make sense that it might be telling the truth about everything else?

Now let’s take it a step further. Think about your life, your family, and the people you love. You say you’d do anything for them, right? You’d jump in front of a train to save them, but wouldn’t you at least want to know for sure that there’s something beyond this life? You hear people say, “Well, I’ll figure it out when I get there.” Really? That’s like jumping out of a plane and hoping the parachute will just magically work. That’s not faith; that’s recklessness. Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” Death is real. It’s coming for all of us, and we don’t get to pick the time or place. So, don’t you think it’s worth figuring out the truth now?

You see, it’s not enough to just sit around and say, “Well, nobody knows for sure.” That’s a cop-out! The Bible says in Proverbs 8:17, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” God isn’t hiding. He’s given us His Word, the evidence of creation, and even put within us an inner sense of right and wrong. That’s called a conscience, and it’s no coincidence that every culture, in every part of the world, has some concept of morality. Where do you think that came from? It didn’t just evolve from nowhere. It’s the imprint of the Creator on His creation.

I know what you’re thinking: “Well, I’ve got doubts.” Hey, everybody has doubts! But here’s the thing: doubt doesn’t change truth. You can doubt that gravity exists, but you’re still going to hit the ground if you jump off a building. Just because you doubt God doesn’t mean He’s not real. And if there’s even a shred of a chance that He is real, then you owe it to yourself to investigate. Don’t take my word for it; look at the evidence, search the Scriptures, and see what aligns with the reality you see all around you.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” That’s not a suggestion; it’s a statement of fact. You might not like it, you might have questions, but the reality of who Jesus is stands regardless of what you think. The question is, are you willing to put in the effort to find out the truth? Because the stakes are high. It’s not just about having some moral compass or living a “good life.” It’s about eternity. It’s about knowing that there’s more beyond this world, and that you can have the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

So, don’t sit around and play the “nobody knows for sure” game. That’s just an excuse to avoid the real work of seeking truth. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” If you’ve got doubts, take them to God. Open up the Bible. Look at the evidence. Talk to people who have been transformed by the power of Christ. Don’t just brush it off or wait until it’s too late.

At the end of the day, you have to make a decision. Are you willing to take the risk of being wrong, or are you going to search for the truth while you still have time? Because trust me, death doesn’t send you a text message to let you know it’s on the way. It comes when you least expect it, and you need to be ready. The evidence is there. The truth is staring you in the face. Don’t ignore it. Don’t dismiss it. Dive into it, because eternity is a long time to be wrong.
