It saddens me sometimes watching how we treat one another. I swear it’s like when someone likes you they leave you alone but if they dislike you they go out of their way to try and tear you down. I seen this playing out this last week with an individual and it just turns my stomach. We as a whole have fallen so far from grace and many do not even see it. Hate and negative intent have become so normalized. What’s not so funny is the hate is directed at someone over difference of opinion and some lack of knowledge all the while diminshing this person as he has a slew of personal problems of his own that shouldn’t be wished on anyone. And of course this is just one situation of many that occur daily. Just scroll through social media. If you are so full of hate perhaps you should first look in the mirror and ask yourself “am I justified in my hate” then drop to your knees and as God for forgiveness, understanding and empathy for others. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34. We have big shoes to fill but we should certainly make the effort to do so! Remember, this life is short and we will answer for our transgressions against others. Consider how our actions may effect our eternity as individuals. Consider that today could be your last…are you prepared to answer for your actions? These considerations are now prevalent in my day to day activities as I consider who I am and how I should be toward others.

Lord, I pray that you embrace those full of hate that they may feel your presence and find gladness in empathy and care. I pray that we as a people recognize that hurt just tears us all down including those of us that exhibit that hate. Amen.
