2 Timothy 3:16 teaches us, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

Life can be fun. Spending time with family and friends, taking time for recreation and sport, traveling and sighseeing. And though we can enjoy our time outside of our day to day stresses I have still always felt an emptiness inside. The fun was in the moment but something deeper and more meaningful was always missing. I mean we all know that our “fun” is going to be short lived. Every day we are one day closer to the perceived end and deep down it was an empty feeling of doom and gloom. Now as I am studying the word of God and recognizing a much bigger picture my mindset is changing. The change is slower than I would hope but it is changing as I grow in knowledge and understanding. I spend time every evening reading the Bible and seeking understanding of God’s purpose. When I am upset with someone and feel like I want to be angry and to lash out I feel a very strong nudge to take a higher road and to exhibit empathy. This is a huge change for me.

Now instead of stressing over some of my responsibilities, instead of worrying about who is in political offices, worrying about my debts I am now focused on those close to me and focused on following God’s simple, basic instructions. Love one another, help one another and encourage one another.

Experience peace through the storms by seeking God’s instructions. I use to think that talking about spiritual things was “soft” and”weak” but with each passing day of seeking knowledge I have come to realize that my relationship with God and sharing it with others takes more strength and builds more character than any of my previous efforts. Wipe the dust from that old Bible on your shelf and discover God’s plan for you. Experience a grace unlike anything that any man, woman or child can provide you. It is a transistion, it is an altering of mindset but once you realize you are not alone through your trials and tribulations it makes the “fun” stuff even more enjoyable.

Heavenly Father thank you for your Word. Thank you for the gift of life, for your sacrifice that leads us to eternal salvation. Thank you for the “fun” things in life but also for the lessons and growth that come through our trials and tribulations in which we can experience peace knowing that we are not alone through these struggles. Please continue to bless us with the strength to endure and the ability to keep focused on your promises. In Jesus name, Amen.
