One thing I cherish as a person and as a business owner is loyalty. There is nothing more rewarding to know that people trust you and return time and time again for your services. It not only speaks to my work but it inspires me to always continue to do better. When I think about loyalty and this short life I am relieved and excited to know that God is the epitomy of loyalty. He set forth His law which is so simple and good that I know if I work hard to fulfill his expectation of me that this short life will result in an eternity with Him. At the same time this has built a fear in me of the Lord. A fear of not being good enough, a fear of failure, and a fear of being on my own without His grace. So just like a loyal customer that I work hard for I know that I must be steadfast and determined in all I do in this life knowing that God’s promise of eternity is true. His law is simple but my inner battles of goodness are challenging.
You know, I have been so guilty of foolish anger, envy and pride throughout my life. I never once considered that you and I are here together for only a short time. And to waste that time in a negative and less than caring way seems such a waste of energy. How often have I cursed another driver, spoken ill of a neighbor or fellow community member, been angry at a family member over a difference of opinion? We create our own misery by how we react to others. If you read through the gospels you read the words of Jesus and they are words of empathy, encouragement, love and patience. Imagine if we all could respond in such a way. Imagine the calmness we would feel inside.
Lord Father thank you for creating us in your image with the ability to show love over hate. Please continue to influence our reactions and emotions through your Holy Spirit so that we can make the best of this short life together. The world is in chaos but it is obvious this is so by our own actions, by our own decisions. May we lean on your steadfst and loyal love and strength to rise above the negative and evil in this world. Amen.
